The Agrarian Institute "A.Parolini" of Vicenza District is set in a large plot of land that runs along the left bank of the Brenta river, in the municipality of Pove del Grappa, which is used for various educational activities and agricultural field experimentations. The school building, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees experimental, has historical origin and its location did not allow morphological expansions. For this, the new gymnasium was built at the edge of the cultivated land and at the same time allowing the evening use by the athletic teams of the town of Pove del Grappa. The intervention area is 4.000 square meters, with rectangular shape with the long side running east-west, in a plane substantially smooth and with a constant slope. The restraint of the volumetric impact of the building in the context of the vineyards took place by cashing it for about 2 meters below ground level, while still maintaining full accessibility to every part of the structure public. Both the entrance of athletes and the one of the public are on the south side of the lot, in a central position and that through a symmetrical ramps allow direct access to the gym, changing rooms areas, stores and stands. From the entrance and changing rooms athletes block leads to the main activity hall, that has been sized on a rectangle of 23x46 meters. The height inside is greater than 7 meters. This allows the property of their suitability to accommodate most of the disciplines to be done indoors. In the conformation of the space is provided, on the long side, a series of niches with an internal height of 6.10 meters, suitable to accommodate the fixed equipment for gymnastics, such as espaliers, the Swedish Framework and the ascent stage, also usable in the contemporary with the activity of the central area. The inclusion of the surface coverage of 1760 square meters in an agriculture ambit took place through the formal interpretation of the leaf of the vine, whose vineyards surround the sports building. The structure is made up of a tangle of wooden beams protected on the outside with copper sheets. The conformation provides a main structure of six beams intersected between them, of the middle section of 24 x 200 centimeters, interconnected by edge beams, intermediate beams and ridge cap beams and a secondary structure consisting of purlins to form the shape. The coverage consist in planks for the realization of the basic plan necessary for the insulation, sealing and coating. The whole structure was braced and the various elements connected to each other with a special metallic carpentry and bolts. The main support for beams on the walls and pillars are secured by steel elements. The technological and functional features of the spaces are also in accordance with the laws on public show and their distribution was carried out in accordance with the precise requirements of the district administration of Vicenza.
