Kindergarten in Pove del Grappa

The kindergarten Pove del Grappa is part of a redevelopment plan for an parochial area, which also involved the nursery school, the rectory and the church. This action is subsequent to the renovation of the historical building of the nursery school and provides certain functions connected between the two structures (the kitchen, stores and administrative management). The new building is located inside the historic center, next to the rectory dated 1500, and the church dated 1700, in the middle of an olive grove. The design solution, standing adjacent to the existing nursery school, was found in the proposal of an unconventional volume in both form and materials. It has achieved a double result: the insertion of a building not directly readable as addition and the perception by the users of dimensional relationships not linked to the classical forms of the house or other public facilities. The shape created is presented as a set of components assembled together and the presence of large windows on all sides allows a direct relation with the outside. The functional organization of asylum, accessible directly from the outside or through the nursery school, revolves around the central service area: In this position you will find the toilet block and the area of food processing. This enables the development of interdisciplinary educational activities through spaces that do not have corridors and all directly related to the service areas. Through large sliding doors, spaces can be closed to achieve, at different times of the day, resting activity, psychomotor, reading and eating. Some elements of planning and organization of space resulting from the application of educational concepts proposed in the publications of Reggio Children, a leading center for research and development of educational activities at an early age. In addition to the central support areas, they are realized containers all around the lower part of the glass walls, so you always have the necessary educational equipment. The restrooms are divided by the area sinks, accessible from opposite sides and open to the main room, while the area of the toilet and sinks is bounded by a large curved glass. In this way educators have a constant control of the children, who can communicate with each other. The olive trees garden allows outdoor activities and a large portico along the south and west sides protects from sun and rain. The overall shape and the choice of colors have been coordinated with the internal equipment for the game, to read, to sleep, with the construction of specific furnishings and service. Many items such as the washing and dressing area, the rest area and the area of food processing, have been developed with educators themselves, bringing with their involvement to optimal functional solutions. The building consists of a concrete frame, connected to the structures of a large basement room used as a warehouse. The sloping roofs and canopies are made with prefabricated steel elements. The building was lined with aluminum panels double crimping, which, in addition to the function of protection from the weather, have allowed the creation of a continuous insulating mantle. All glass surfaces perimeter, equipped with blackout drapes and filtering, are structured with double glazing, which are fixed at the bottom and open at the top, consisting of aluminum frames with thermal break. The ceiling is lined with panels of wood fiber and magnesite, with a high degree of sound absorption that allows access to installations and ensure acoustic comfort of the premises. In the lacunar were included the lighting fixtures of direct and reflected light, connected to sensors reading of daylight. The floor is equipped with a multi-layer sheet with a high shock absorption and non-slip, in order to ensure maximum hygiene and ease of maintenance. The plant uses a domotic system that communicates with the main tools of communication and enables the management and control even remotely. The lighting system has the ability to modulate all the lamps with the change in perceptions of color spaces in relation to specific educational or recreational activities.
