The construction project involves a residential building in a rectangular shaped surface area of about 1500 square meters, with a covered area of 300sqm. The house has a rectangular plan and is spread over three floors, one of which is underground and the other two are off the ground level. Following the needs of the client in design phase, the sources of inspiration are linked to Nordic culture, both in respect of the characteristic elements and functional spaces, and in the use of traditional materials such as natural wood. The basement is distributed on two levels staggered by four steps, in the lower part are distributed completely underground service areas (cellar, boiler room, laundry room and a toilet) while in the higher part are placed a storage room and a garage. The garage is accessible from the driveway located to the north through a chute. From the lower portion of the chute, the ground naturally connects to the height of the ground floor along the west elevation, allowing to the underground's rooms which facing west the access to the outside and then also the direct light. Also the ground floor is arranged on split levels with each other. The main entrance on the ground floor is from the east side through a driveway that connects directly to the entrance room, the true focus of the house's distribution, around which are organized domestic functions of living. This first space welcomes with a circular full height, with the roof fully glazed and also partly open. The glass roof allows to create a garden from which the adjacent rooms take light to and around which turn the vertical connections. A staircase leads to the basement and a ramp gives access to the premises of the raised ground floor. From the entrance you can reach the kitchen, the dining area and the living room, which are located on the south and are identified in an unitary open space. The feature of these spaces are large windows that open to a covered portico that looks onto the garden, putting in close relationship the inside with the outside. The second level of living area is reached by a ramp. Here are placed a study, a bathroom and a bedroom, and going up four steps then you get to the third level which occupies part of the east side and the whole north side of the building. This part is used to the sleeping area and consists of a bathroom and two bedrooms. Each of these has a double height that allow to realize their own loft and a utility room, which determine the first floor. On the first floor, from the utility room of the master bedroom on the north-west, one enters a terrace formed by interrupting the west part of the sloping roof. From the loft of the bedroom in the east instead you access to a terrace that overlooks the inner courtyard garden and a terrace facing outside at east. Also this twin bedroom is on two levels, allowing a better use of space through the interior design. The facilities and technological installations adopted, correspond to the attainment of optimal current standard in terms of energy efficiency and consist in the system of underfloor heating, cooling with the air system and the electrical system subdivided into homogeneous zones with differential systems. The volume of the entrance is itself a natural element for the temperature regulation and control for the entire house. The finishing of the outer surfaces are made by cocciopesto plaster, colored following the harmony and correspondence with the warm colors of the interior. The metal copper roof has fully integrated the modern efficently photovoltaic system for the production of electricity.
